Single String Guitar (Diddley Bow) with Dave Maran (Session I)

115.00

Students will learn how to make their own single string guitar, or diddley bow, using wood and other materials. Students will have the option of making a simple diddley bow or using a cigar box or cookie tin as their base. The instructor will have cigar boxes and cookie tins available, but students can also bring their own. This class is a great way to repurpose a meaningful old object into something brand new!
Dave will teach participants the techniques needed to use woodshop tools to create these instruments, including how to make guitar necks. Students will then assemble and finish their pieces to take home.

This session of Single String Guitar meets Saturday, March 24th from 11am-2pm at the Ponyride Woodshop
1401 Vermont
Detroit, MI

Dave Maran is a lifelong woodworker and sole owner and operator of Gezr Rocks, where he makes wooden instruments from reclaimed materials. Dave is a resident of the Ponyride woodshop, a graduate of Lawrence Technological University and a retiree of Ford/Visteon.
