Intermediate Jewelry - Spring 2018

In Intermediate Jewelry students will continue to build upon the foundational techniques learned in the Beginning Jewelry course, with emphasis on more complex soldering. New skills to be introduced include basic stone setting, hollow form fabrication, and surface embellishment techniques. The skills taught in this course can be applied to a variety of jewelry forms including rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Students will complete several small projects and samples during the course while working towards one or more substantial works. Limit 6 students. Classes meet 3 hours once a week. *Completion of Beginning Jewelry Class or equivalent experience required. 

Monday evenings, 6-9pm. March 12 - April 16. $300, most materials included.

Instructor Biography: 

Erika Broas has been an active metalsmith for seven years. She holds a BFA in jewelry and metalsmithing received from Grand Valley State University, and regularly teaches at The Creative Fringe, a bead and jewelry supply studio in Grand Haven, MI. Erika has also worked as studio assistant to the celebrated metal artist Kim Cridler. As a craft-oriented artist, Erika enjoys the time-honored jewelry processes that require patience and attention to detail. Erika is currently the silversmith, manager, and head educator at The Creative Fringe.
